Rend Lake College Announces FREE CTE Camps for Career Exploration

INA, Ill. (May 22, 2024) — Rend Lake College has announced an expanded lineup of Career-Technical Education camps June 17-20. These one-day camps are free and provide participants valuable experience with each field of study.

Rend Lake College Career-Technical Education Exploration Camps
Dates: June 17-20, 2024
Eligibility: Students entering grades 7-12
Each camp includes a T-shirt and lunch.
 

COMPUTER SCIENCE & DRONES CAMP




Date: June 17
Time: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Highlights:
- Understand what a Man-in-the-Middle Attack is
- Learn the safe use of public WiFi and VPNs
- Fly professional-quality drones and capture 4K footage
 

MANUFACTURING & WELDING CAMP




Date: June 17
Time: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Highlights:
- Explore electrical systems in everyday devices
- Discover how switches and circuits work
- Participate in welding demonstrations (closed-toe shoes required, safety glasses provided)
 

AGRICULTURE & AUTO CAMP




Date: June 18
Time: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Highlights:
- Investigate technology's role in modern farming and automotive industries
- Tour the Agronomy Innovation Center, Auto Labs, and Ag buildings
 

CULINARY & BUSINESS CAMP



Date: June 18
Time: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Highlights:
- Participate in the "Bake It Big" Challenge
- Learn to develop, finance, market, and sell baked goods

 

HEALTH CARE CAMP



Date: June 20
Time: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Highlights:
- Explore various health care fields including EMS, Radiology, Nursing, Medical Coding, Phlebotomy,
and Medical Assisting
 

TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING & HEAVY EQUIPMENT CAMP




Date: June 20
Time: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Highlights:
- Explore the opportunities in truck driving
- Experience being in the driver's seat of large equipment

Transportation:
Transportation to Camp will be provided by establishing a few pick-up/drop-off points throughout
the area. All students can be dropped off at the RLC Student Center (Ina Campus) at 9 am
and can be picked up at the RLC Student Center at 2pm.
