INA, Ill. (April 19, 2023) — Rend Lake College is excited to announce its 2023 summer camp lineup for youth from Kindergarten through high school. With a variety of activities from sports, and arts and crafts, to rockets, drones and computer coding, there is something for everyone. The college offers a safe and friendly environment with qualified instructors ready to help guide your student through their summer adventure. Give your child a chance to unplug and explore new skills while having fun.
Summer Camps
Outdoor Life
Grades 4-6
Time: 9 am-Noon
Date: June 12-15
Location: Historic Schoolhouse
Camp Instructor: Staff of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Cost: $75
If you like being outside, this is the camp for you! Join Park Rangers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and participate in some basic outdoor camping skills. Each day will be filled with fun activities that will help you feel more comfortable in the outdoors. We will focus on what you should do if you get “lost” in the woods, identify some of the things that you should and should not be afraid of, and signal for help. We will set up the perfect campsite and discover the items you will need if spending the night in the woods. Try your hand at geocaching (treasure hunting with a GPS) and navigating with a compass and a map, tying knots, and making a para-cord bracelet to take home. On the final day of camp we will play old fashion lawn games and cook our lunch over a campfire. Yum!

Kids, are you interested in learning how to run your own bakeshop? Join RLC professional pastry chef, Jeff Fairbanks, to learn skills in baking and pastry techniques. Campers will learn about planning, cost analysis, production, marketing, and sales while preparing for their very own bake sale on the final day of camp.

Turn an ordinary summer into another adventure while attending this ultimate science camp. Participants will build, decorate, and launch their own model rockets that reach heights up to 1,000 feet. In addition to building and launching the rockets, participants will view videos produced by NASA which highlight our explorations on other planets, discuss the possibility of life beyond Earth, and participate in activities that bring the solar system to scale. Payment Options Payment may be made by check, money order, credit/debit card or cash and must be received at the time of registration. Please keep payments for Community Ed Camps and Sports Camps separate.
Refund and Cancellation Policy A full refund will be issued for cancellations received one week prior to the first day of camp. RLC cannot provide make-up sessions or partial refunds for days missed. RLC reserves the right to cancel any camps that do not meet minimum enrollment—the registration fee will be fully refunded.
Transportation Students and their parents/guardians are responsible for all transportation arrangements to and from camp. Supervision will be provided for ONLY 10 minutes before camp begins. Out of respect for our camp instructors, please do not be late picking up your child.
Notes for Community Ed Camps Please dress your child appropriately for the weather and the camp. Old clothes are best—we get messy! If it’s raining, send a hooded jacket or umbrella. Camps will take a daily, supervised break with minimal walking
to another building. For break time, you will need to send snacks/drinks with your child or change for vending machines.
Confirmation and Waiver Forms Parents/guardians will receive a confirmation letter prior to the beginning of camp to confirm payment and registration. A liability waiver will also be sent to return the first day of camp. If a camp is full, you will be notified.
Supervised Lunch Any Day, Any Age (Food not included) Extend your camper’s fun by letting them attend both a morning and
afternoon camp session. RLC staff will collect your camper at the end of their morning camp, supervise their lunch, and drop them off with their afternoon leader. Parents may drop their camper off at their 9am camp and pick up at 3:30pm following their afternoon session. Campers need to bring a sack lunch and beverage each day.
