Board of Trustees Meeting - August 13, 2024
Meeting Highlights
Under New Business, the Board:
- Approved Revisions to Rend Lake College Policy 3.1025 - Terms of Appointment and Termination of Part-Time Employees, first reading, effective retroactively to January 1, 2024.
RATIONALE: These revisions to policy are needed to better meet the needs of the institution. - Granted Permission to Advertise for Bids for the Rend Lake College James "Hummer" Waugh Gymnasium Remodel and Addition of the Banterra Sports Complex, effective August 13, 2024.
RATIONALE: The Gymnasium is dated 55+ years with no major upgrades or renovations. The Gymnasium Addition consists of approximately 5,688 square feet of space to the west side of the existing building. The addition will include locker rooms, offices, concession stand, athletic training room and restrooms. Along with the addition, this project will include renovation throughout the Gymnasium building. - Approved the Resolution to Appoint Representative of the Board Secretary.
RATIONALE: The Consolidated Election Law has established that the election of candidates whose term of office will expire will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Persons elected on April 1, 2025 will be seated at the April 22, 2025 meeting of the Rend Lake College Board of Trustees. - Approved the Program Articulation Agreement Between Rend Lake College, District #521 and McKendree University, effective August 13, 2024.
RATIONALE: This Articulation Agreement will replace the Memorandum of Agreement from 2020. Both institutions value this partnership which allows Rend Lake College students who complete the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Nursing to have a seamless transfer to McKendree University’s Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. - Approved the Partnership Agreement Between Rend Lake College, District #521 and AGCO NexTECH, effective August 12, 2024.
RATIONALE: This Partnership Agreement allows Rend Lake College students the necessary program of study to enter the workforce of AGCO as an entry-level technician. This also allows the students access to new technologies, equipment and additional opportunities for career development.

- TABLED: Permission to Appoint a Cosmetology Instructor.
- Granted Permission to Create the Position and Advertise for Technician - Audiovisual and Distance Learning, effective August 13, 2024.
- Granted Permission to Advertise for Computer Technician, effective August 13, 2024.
Under Financial Information, the Board:
- Ratification of the Payment of College Expenses including Travel Expense Reimbursements
